Which Season Should You Travel In?
Written on July 24, 2025

Just because the summer is winding down doesn’t mean our wanderlust has to! For those of us that enjoyed staycations, camps and sports, or parties and barbecues with family and friends at home this summer, we are beyond ready to hit the road (or sea, or sky!) The good news is that traveling isn’t just for summer – each season of the year offers reasons to get out and explore.
But which season is right for your dream vacation?

LOOKING FOR NATURAL BEAUTY, FULL FLAVORS, AND NO SUNBURNS?
A gentle breeze, the color of the leaves, and the warm flavors of harvest season…fall is all about the treating the senses to flavors and colors that fill us with joy. The New England states are ideal for a leaf-peeping, spooky ghost tours, and heartwarming bowls of clam chowder. They are also home to fresh apple cider, pumpkin-everything, and the perfect weather for a long hike. Visit Massachusetts for a chance to see stunning leaves, try a local lobster roll, or tour Boston to bring American History class lessons to life. Perhaps book a New England & Canada cruise itinerary and experience autumn in a variety of northeastern destinations – but plan early, because these popular cruises sell out.

DO YOU LOVE THE FIRST SNOWFALL OF THE YEAR AND NIGHTS SPENT BY THE FIRE?
There are two types of travelers in the winter: ones who love the snow and ones trying to get away from it! For those who embrace fresh powder and chilly air, ski resorts in Colorado or Vermont are ideal for days spent outside and warm nights by the fire. You might be interested in a cabin rental, bed and breakfast, or boutique hotel to enjoy the serene quiet of a winter night with a cup of hot cocoa in hand. Quaint towns with a Hallmark Channel feel also provide the perfect backdrop for festive season fun.

WISH YOU COULD SKIP THE SNOW AND GO RIGHT BACK TO SUMMER?
If you seek sun and blue skies to break up the winter gray, some destinations are perfect for any season. Las Vegas is a high-energy city where the sun shines nearly every day of the year. Activities abound, and travelers can enjoy fine dining, see concerts and other live shows, or visit casinos. For a more relaxed vacation, Palm Springs, California offers a slower pace with an abundance of midcentury modern style. It’s like stepping back in time to a colorful paradise complete with neon signs and relaxing hot tubs. Last, we can’t overstate the popularity of Caribbean cruises and Mexico/Caribbean all-inclusive resort vacations. These vacations offer beautiful surroundings and lots of relaxation.

LOOKING FORWARD TO WARMER WEATHER, FLORAL DRESSES, AND A CHANCE TO RECONNECT WITH THE OUTDOORS?
Spring, especially during spring break from school, is a popular time to get away, especially for students and their families. The country’s flora and fauna begin to emerge after a long winter, and the first taste of warm weather after winter provides an instant lift to your mood. Embrace the beauty of our parks and visit The Grand Canyon in Arizona, Old Faithful in Yellowstone, or Monuments National Park in Utah. (They also provide a great setting for updated family photos!)

THINK VACATIONS ARE ALL ABOUT SUN, SAND, AND SURF?
We live for the freedom and fun of summer vacation. From the shores of the Outer Banks to the islands of the Florida Keys, summer was made for beach vacations! It’s also a great season to visit Alaska. With train journeys and Alaskan cruises, travelers can experience The Last Frontier like never before!
WANT TO SAVE A BIT OF MONEY?
Depending on the destination, planning trips during certain months of the year can offer you a bit of savings. Traveling during shoulder season or off-season can help get you closer to your budget, but there could be some important potential cons to discuss together. Talk to our team about your destination and the right time of year for you to visit so you can have the best vacation possible.
No matter which season your’re looking to travel, we are sure to find a destination you’ll be thrilled to experience!
